While working around the house in Estes Park, my wife saw this bobcat sitting in our yard. He stayed for about 10 minutes before moving on.

I have a love/hate relationship with Long’s Peak. I’ve been up it 3 times. And I’ve said I’ll never do it again… 3 times.

We were driving thru Rocky Mtn National Park and I saw a couple cars pulled off to the side. I pulled over to look. I didn’t see any wildlife but the little meadow looked intriguing so I walked down and started taking pics of the meadow and winding stream. Getting down by the stream, shooting the water and grass.

Coming back up to the road, a car pulled over and a lady said “did you see her?” Wade and I both said “see who?” “The mama bear that’s down in the meadow.”

After we recovered we drove around to the other side of the meadow and I got the above pic. Not the best in the failing light. And I wasn’t getting close again.

I like people who know stuff. Last Christmas I hired a guide to help me get some killer photos. I took a chance with Yellow Wood Guiding and am glad I did. This guy gave me odds on seeing different animals and knew where they’d be.

I’ll be hiring him again in May.

I take lots of photos in the Rocky Mountain National Park. This is one of my favorites. To the south of the gravel road leading to the Fern Lake trailhead is a meadow with Aspens. In 2013 a fire raced through. You have to look close to see the burn scars now.
