Christmas 2017

Headed up into the mountains to see some snow. I took these with an Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II. Since it is a new model to me I was in a “use it to learn it” mode and left the Canon back at the cabin. It was a great experience. Attaching it to the Peak clip on my backpack strap I hardly knew it was there. In short, it was a nice downsize and I was very happy with the images.

Red sunset in the mountains

I got a new camera, an Olympus OMD E-5 Mark 2. It’s micro 4:3 which means it will be easier to lug around in the mountains. Still love my Canon but I gotta admit the portability and ease of it means I’ll be shooting with it more. I paired it with a 14 – 150 Olympus lens.

Buchannan Pass

On the trail to Buchannan Pass we followed this pretty stream which may or may not be the Middle St. Vrain Creek. I was shooting this stream a bunch. Lots of pretty spots. But I thought this had the best composition. Camera balanced on backpack, slow shutter, etc.

Colorado Backpacking

Amazing, scenic trip. Four days in a southern Colorado national forest.  This was our water source and view from our tents the last two nights. Since we were backpacking I didn’t take a dslr, just a GoPro and my iPhone. Kind of hard to get a bad shot with this landscape.

Vacation 2017

We come here so often that it’s a challenge to create something new or a better image than last time. It’s good to be challenged though. In this case I had the help of family to hike with, my favorite model and a late spring snow providing plenty of snow melt.

Today’s Tom Sawyer

Driving home from work I saw these kids playing in the creek. Like something from another time. Usually I think “that’d make a great pic” and then not do anything about it. This time I got a camera and came back for the photo.
